Activities
Afton Grove is run by a family who are passionate about the outdoors, and thus this Cape Town country retreat is perfectly suited to avid bird watchers and enthusiastic horse lovers. A wetland birding route, including some 70 species, starts within easy walking distance and Afton Grove itself boasts a list of over 100 species identified over the past 25 years.
Cape Town beaches are arguably the most spectacular beaches in the world. From small, intimate rock pools to long expanses of white sand and crashing waves, Cape Town has a beach to suit everyone from sunbathers to surfers.
Noordhoek or Muizenberg are perfect for long invigorating walks, while St. James, the Boulders, Hout Bay or Camps Bay are a safe children's environment. Clifton is the spot for local beach-bodies, and Sandy Bay - a short walk from Llandudno - is ideal for an all-over-bare-all tan. Afton Grove is ideally located for those wishing to explore this collection of beautiful white sandy beaches and rocky coves of both the cold Atlantic as well as the popular swimming beaches on the warmer False Bay coastline.
The world famous 7km long Noordhoek beach, the resting place of the steamer "Kakapo", is only a five minute drive from the lodge..
