he Villa St James, simply put, is massive. The Villa accommodates up to 20 people in eight large bedrooms with extra long beds and five bathrooms. Lavish appointments include Frette linens and towels and goose down duvets. Special details include colorful Moroccan kilims, full-length mirrors, art deco light fixtures, antique furniture and accents. Upstairs living quarters have direct access to the back garden. The bedrooms, each unique in character, are located upstairs and have sea and mountain views from one shared furnished enclosed terrace and several private balconies. Each room is named after the local African flower that best embodies the room’s character. You can actually whale watch from each sea facing room.
Protea - the Master Suite, features a sumptuously appointed four poster extra-king sized bed, antique writing desk, cozy divan, maplewood floors and accents Moroccan kilims and gabays, art deco lights, goose down duvet and crystal chandelier. The grand en-suite bathroom boasts an old fashioned footed tub and separate shower. This room has gorgeous views of False Bay, Cape Point, mountains, palm trees, land and sky from the terrace and balcony.
Aloe Room is airy, large and leads to the Protea room. It has a single sized walnut sleigh bed. One wall is lined with glossy oak cabinetry. Double french doors lead to the furnished sea view terrace.
Palm Room, a whale watchers dream, is spacious, rustic, stately, and decorated in warm neutrals with splashes of colour. A vintage armoire, cozy loungers and direct access to a balcony and the enclosed sea terrace give these quarters the atmosphere of nautical freedom with uninterrupted views of False Bay and Cape Point.
The Sunflower Room, accessible through Palm Room making it just right for a family, has double doors leading to the rattan furnished terrace, with its view above of lush gardens and mountains, and below to the grapevine-trellised patio. A large bougainvillea bush provides a burst of color. A queen sized sleigh bed, white washed walls and furniture give this room a hip shabby chic feeling. Views of the ocean from the east of this room bring balance and calm. The Palm and Sunflower suite has a bathroom with shower and separate toilet. The floors are of Italian terra cotta.
The Sage Room is a double occupancy room with modern Mere Michele Orb chair, queen sized bed, and double french doors to the enclosed furnished terrace. There is one wall of cupboards for storage.
The Lavender Room features a delightful tree-lined view from its unique alcove. Creamy open walls, rustic chairs and furniture and a double bed keep this room feeling fresh and breezy.
The Lily Room has one single and one double bed, desk, and a large bright window facing the grapevine patio.The art deco lamps and vintage armoire enhance the room's charm.
The Rose Room contains two single oak wood beds, an armoire, hard wood floors, art deco light fixture, and windows facing the mountain. Separate bathroom with full bath and toilet.
Grapevine, a separate guesthouse, is so named for the grapevine that winds through the trellis over the adjacent patio. The two-room Grapevine house is furnished in a modern, minimal and rustic style with African light fixtures.
The Anteroom, which opens onto the sun-dappled patio with double French doors, is furnished with a bright yellow sofa and pull out bed and solid yellow wood table. The bedroom features a queen sized bed and solid oak bench and armoire. The bathroom is equipped with shower, toilet and washbasin.
