Accommodation

Lythwood Lodge offers a variety of accommodation from self catering cottages to an executive suite, all of which meet top international standards. Each room has an ensuite bathroom with separate shower and bath (excluding the wheelchair friendly room, which has a large shower area only), and is heated either by a wood or gas fire. The furnishings are manufactured from mahogany wood to an exceptionally high standard and provide an ambience which is both restful and comfortable. Artwork is generally by local artists and varies from grand landscape designs in the Premier rooms to more intimate animal or bird designs in the veranda rooms.

As part of our normal service:

The cotton linen is changed daily and towels twice daily.
Each room has a vase of fresh flowers from the garden, a bowl of fruit, homemade biscuits and tea and coffee facilities.
Each room has satellite television and a telephone.

The Excecutive/Honeymoon Suite
This is our top room and is used either as an Excecutive suite or for Honeymooners. The fittings and paintings reflect the atmosphere we want to convey for the best room in the hotel. The sitting room is 15 square meters and leads out onto its own pattio. The large bathroom has sweet scented candles and a shower suitable for two occupants. This room is real luxury!

The Two Premier Rooms
These are exceptionally large - about 36 square metres excluding the bathroom. They were part of the original building with views of the estate, and have the characteristic leaded pane windows and log fires. One is furnished with a queen size sleigh bed, whilst the other has a king size bed.
 
The Five Luxury Rooms
These rooms were added to the main building by the owners in 1997. They are also large about 30 square metres (excluding the bathroom) and their wide corridors - 2 metres and height of over 3 metres match the proportions of the main building. Each room is heated by gas fire and has either two single beds or a double king size bed. They have views overlooking the farm and rose garden.
 
The Four Veranda Rooms
These rooms were added in 1999 and are clustered together in a building about 30 metres from the main building. The rooms are slightly smaller, about 25 square metres (excluding the bathroom), of conventional height and heated by gas fire. These rooms have either two single or a queen size bed. Many of our customers have a preference for these rooms as they have a patio which looks up to the amphitheatre of natural forest.
 
The Eight Meadow Rooms
These are large rooms locaed about 75 meters from the main Lodge. Priced at slightly less than the other rooms these represent wonderful value. All eight rooms have twin beds.

The Four Self-Catering Cottages
These have only recently been completed. They consist of two twin bedded, en-suite roomsand a large area that incorporates a kitchen, dining area and lounge. Leading from the lounge area is the patio that has magnificent sweeping views of the countryside. A built in braai area is to the side of the patio. These cottages are fitted and equipped to the highest standard.
 
Wheelchair Friendly
Lythwood is one of the only two of the smaller lodges that has been approved by the South African quadriplegic society as being suitable for persons in a wheel chair. The room is strategically placed in that it is within 10-15 meters of both the entrance and reception rooms (lounge, dinning room, bar et cetera). The room itself is exceptionally large, has a log fire and twin beds. The bathroom does not have a bath but a specially built shower area with an adjustable shower and seat.
