Hiking and Forest Walks
There are numerous scenic forest walks in the area.
Buck found in the area are the grey duiker, reedbuck, bushbuck, bushpig and the endangered oribi
There is an abundance of different species of Butterfly only to be found in the Karkloof. A heritage site to protect these butterflies has been developed..
 
Fly Fishing
The rates are as follows:

Day visitors are charged R100.00 per rod per day which includes 2 fish and any fish caught thereafter are charged out at a rate R75.00 per kilogram.

Residents are charged R75.00 per rod per day and the same rules apply.

It is important that we record ever fish caught and kept in order to safeguard our stock levels and to ensure that the dams are adequately equipped for each fisherman that frequent the retreat.
 
Tennis
Tennis racquets and balls are provided.
 
Bird watching
A recent visitor from Ireland sighted 30 different species of birds at the retreat. Karkloof is the home of the rare endangered Cape Parrot and Narina Trogon which have also been sighted at the retreat.

Canopy Tours
The Karkloof Canopy tours only 14 kilometres away offers an unequalled experience of gliding along steel cables between eight canopy level platforms built high within the Karkloof forest. The tours take approximately 3 hours which takes you amongst the birds, monkeys, trees and plants of this awesome forest
